Petition Palooza

Part of engaging in the political process involves not only working towards a vision (i.e. a thriving sustainable city in the desert where housing, healthcare, and opportunity are available to all), but also working to defeat bad bills and policies. In Arizona, we spend a lot of time playing defense against our Republican governor and Republican-led state legislature.

This weekend we are doing both; working towards a vision and working to defeat yet more attacks on public education and voting rights. We are canvassing neighborhoods and talking to voters about addressing climate change while also hosting a 4-hour petition drive to reverse actions by our state legislature that make participating in democracy more difficult and remove funding for public education. This is urgent – it includes six referendum petitions that must be submitted next week. Both signatures and walking can be accomplished with just 2 hours of your time.

Please stop by 1609 E. Spring St. this Saturday, September 18, from 7 to 11 a.m. to sign all seven petitions and then grab a short walk list.

P.S. Please join us next week for our Volunteer Party! We’ll be at MotoSonora Brewery next Wednesday, September 22, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Stop by for a beer and to learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
