A Water Crisis

This week U.S. officials declared the first ever water shortage on the Colorado River. The Colorado River serves 40 million people and is the main water source for the City of Tucson. This comes one week after the IPCC report stating that climate change is widespread, rapid, and intensifying.

What can we do? Unlike other utilities that serve Tucsonans, Tucson Water is a public utility owned by the residents of the City of Tucson. Its Board of Directors is the democratically elected City Council. Policy decisions like water rates, conservation mandates (if any), and designating service boundaries are governed by the Tucson City Council.

I am running for the Ward 3 seat because I know we need bold action and we must implement water policies that reflect the crisis we are in. We need to look at ideas like limiting growth outside the service area, mandating conservation, and encouraging rainwater harvesting. But I need your help...

Join us this Saturday, 8/21, at 9 a.m. for canvassing! We'll meet at 1609 E. Spring St. where you can pick up materials. Want to canvass, but can't make it Saturday? Email me (Info@KevinDahl4Tucson.com) and we'll coordinate another time for you to pick up a list.

Thank you so much for your continued support of the campaign!
